Doncaster taxi driver sentenced for rapes

A cab driver was sentenced to 12 years for grooming and sexually assaulting two disabled women at home.

After dating two women with “significant disabilities,” Derek Bilby, 64, of Alexander Street, Bentley, pled guilty to six charges, including rape.

South Yorkshire Police said the rapist cab driver may have had other victims.

Alex Storey, the investigating officer, commended the victims for reporting Bilby and urged anyone with knowledge about possible future crimes to contact police.

“We can’t rule out that Bilby targeted other women when he worked as a taxi driver in Doncaster a number of years ago, and I would urge anyone with concerns or suspicions to come forward.”

On Tuesday, Sheffield Crown Court convicted Bilby to six years on extended licence. He’ll also be a lifelong sex offender.

Bilby victims should contact South Yorkshire Police.
