After evening prayers at the Birmingham mosque, a man was attacked

Three men attacked a 73-year-old worshipper as he walked home from evening prayers at a Birmingham mosque. The man was kicked in the back on York Road in the Kings Heath neighbourhood at approximately 23:00 BST on Wednesday and fell, hitting his head on a display board, according to the West Midlands Police. He is currently hospitalised with a broken hand and facial lacerations.

The assailants, described as two white men and one black man aged between 18 and 30 and dressed in tracksuits, exited a parked black vehicle before fleeing. West Midlands Police Sergeant Chris Gallon stated, “This was an appalling attack on a member of the public who was heading home.”

West London police have ruled out any connection between recent incidents near mosques in Edgbaston and Ealing. Officers are currently collecting CCTV footage and conducting door-to-door inquiries in an effort to identify the assailants and their vehicle. Additional officers have been sent to the scene to reassure the public.
