After a fire at a Perth recycling facility, a highway was closed

The M90 at Friarton Bridge has been closed in both directions due to a large-scale fire and explosions at a recycling facility in Perth.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has dispatched six fire engines and specialised appliances to the scene, along with a high-volume pumping unit, aerial platforms, and a van from the fire investigation unit. Also present was a Scottish Ambulance Service Special Operations Team (Sort).

At approximately 00:40 this morning, the incident began in the harbour area, with witnesses reporting hearing several loud explosions as the fire spread. Above the motorway carriageways, dense smoke could be seen billowing.

Although diversions are in place, individuals are advised to avoid the area.

There is no word yet on when the M90 will reopen, as emergency crews are currently battling a massive fire.
