A man is charged with murder in Ipswich following his arrest at Stansted Airport

Edgars Slavinski, a 30-year-old man from Ipswich, was charged with murder on Saturday following an alleged serious assault that occurred in June 2019.

The assault occurred at the residence of 40-year-old Raimonds Gromolds on Harland Street. He died in 2021 after sustaining extensive head and facial injuries and internal abdominal pain. Friday at Stansted Airport, Slavinski was arrested and subsequently charged with murder and committing an act / series of acts with the intent to pervert the course of public justice.

On Saturday, he appeared before magistrates in Ipswich and will later appear before the Crown court. Detective Chief Inspector Caroline Millar stated, “Our thoughts are with Mr. Gromolds’ family during this difficult time, and specially trained officers will continue to assist them.”
